Details of the “Dick Bruna’s 100th Birthday & Kinokuniya Bookstore’s 100th Anniversary Book & Collaboration Goods Fair”
Dick Bruna, the creator of “Miffy,” and Kinokuniya Bookstore, founded in Shinjuku, Tokyo, will both celebrate their 100th anniversaries in 2027. To commemorate this milestone shared by both entities—which were born in the same year—a special collaboration event titled “Dick Bruna’s 100th Birthday & Kinokuniya Bookstore’s 100th Anniversary Book & Collaboration Goods Fair.”
Starting at each store’s opening time on November 12, 2026, collaboration merchandise will go on sale at all domestic stores of the Kinokuniya Bookstore Group (including Asahiya Bookstore and Kinokuniya Book Sales), as well as at overseas stores, university book centers, and online stores both in Japan and abroad. In-store pre-orders are not being accepted, and due to high demand, pre-orders on the online stores have sold out for all but a few items.

Introducing Miffy and Boris “Mascot Keychains” dressed as bookstore clerks!
Miffy and Boris mascot keychains, designed to depict them working at Kinokuniya Bookstore as it celebrates its 100th anniversary, are now available! Both wear aprons printed with the refined logo and hold picture books under their arms; the picture book Miffy is holding also features an illustration.
Please note that the release date for these two types of mascot keychains on the online store has not yet been determined, while in-store sales are scheduled to begin on the release date.

Paperback-sized book covers finished in Bruna colors are now available in four designs: Miffy Blue, Boris Yellow, Miffy Red, and Miffy Green! The illustrations are rendered in warm, embroidered designs.
The bookmarks feature charms with motifs that match the illustrations on the covers, creating designs that bring the picture book stories to life.

This paperback-sized book cover, made of Tyvek material, is crafted to the same specifications as the “Traditional Logo Series”—a line of original merchandise celebrating Kinokuniya Bookstore’s 100th anniversary. The illustration of Miffy and friends at a party adds a festive touch to the 100th-anniversary celebrations.
Introducing the “Book Cover: Paperback – Black Bear on the March,” featuring Black Bear marching!
Black Bear is a bear whose eyes turned red from reading too many books, born from a promotional poster for paperbacks created by Dick Bruna. This collaboration also embodies Kinokuniya Bookstore’s hope that more “book lovers” will become as engrossed in books as Black Bear.
Made from Tyvek material—the same as the “Traditional Logo Series”—this book cover features an illustration of the Black Bear marching, accompanied by an original message created exclusively for this release.
A “Book Pouch: Black Bear March” featuring the same design is now available!
Just like the book cover, this Tyvek book pouch features an illustration of marching Black Bears and an original message! It has a spacious opening that makes it easy to store books and tablets, and the lining is made of soft fabric.

This book pouch, featuring an illustration of a Black Bear who loves to read, is now available in black and white! It boasts a simple yet chic design that works for any occasion.
A book fair featuring Dick Bruna’s picture books and related titles is also being held!
To coincide with the release of these merchandise items, Kinokuniya bookstores across Japan will host a book fair featuring Dick Bruna’s picture books and related titles. For every purchase of 1,500 yen or more (including tax) of eligible books at participating stores, customers will receive one original shopping bag.
The original shopping bags will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved. Special sets that include an original shopping bag will be available for purchase at the online store.
