A TV anime based on the popular manga by Kazuto Yamada and Tsukasa Abe To commemorate the third anniversary of the broadcast of *Freiren: The Funeral*, a [Season 2 Special Screening Event] has been announced!

On Saturday, September 26, 2026, a specially curated selection of episodes from all 10 episodes of Season 2 will be screened at nine theaters nationwide.

At the main venue, TOHO Cinemas Hibiya, a stage greeting featuring the star-studded cast will take place after the screening, and it will be broadcast via live viewing to the remaining eight theaters.

“Freiren: The Funeral” Season 2 Highlight Screening at 9 Theaters Nationwide

This screening commemorates the third anniversary of the Season 1 premiere on September 29, 2023.

From the 10 episodes of Season 2—which depict the growth and bonds of Freiren, Fern, Stark—will be screened on the big screen in a specially curated selection from the 10 episodes of Season 2, which depict the trio’s growth and bonds throughout their journey.

It will also serve as an opportunity to look back on the series ahead of Season 3 [The Land of Gold Arc], which will begin airing in October 2027.

Screening Details

The screening begins at 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, and the schedule is the same for all theaters.

Eight episodes selected from Season 2 will be specially compiled, including excerpts from Parts A and B.

On-Stage Greetings and Live Viewing

Starting at 2:30 PM following the screening, a stage greeting featuring five cast members will take place at the main venue, TOHO Cinemas Hibiya.

The event will celebrate the 3rd anniversary while looking back on Season 2, and the proceedings will be broadcast via live viewing to the remaining eight theaters.

*Guests will not appear on stage at the theaters showing the live stream.
*As this is a special screening, various discounts and complimentary tickets cannot be used.
*All seats are reserved. Children under 3 years old may sit on a guardian’s lap for free (one child per guardian); children 3 years old and older require a ticket.
*Bringing in cheering merchandise or similar items is prohibited.
*As a general rule, late entry during the stage greeting is not permitted.
*Photography, video recording, and audio recording are not permitted inside the theater. Bag checks may be conducted on the day of the event.
*The lineup of guests may be subject to change.

Attendee Gift

As a gift for all attendees at all theaters, a set of two special postcards will be distributed.

One features an original illustration of “Mahat of the Golden Land” by character designer Takasemaru, which was distributed at a special event held during “Anime Expo 2026” in Los Angeles, USA, in July 2026!

The other is a postcard featuring the anime’s 3rd-anniversary visual, which will be unveiled on the day of the screening.

How much are tickets?

Tickets for the main venue, TOHO Cinemas Hibiya, are 2,900 yen (tax included), while live viewing theaters charge the standard rate of 2,200 yen (tax included). Tickets for the main venue are sold via a lottery through Ticket Pia’s advance pre-reservation system, while sales dates and times for the live-viewing venues vary by theater.
