An exhibition of original artwork by Moto Hagio, titled “Moto Hagio Exhibition: Longing for Europe,” is set to open at the Asahi Group Oyamazaki Sanso Art Museum in Kyoto!
From December 19, 2026, to April 11, 2027, the exhibition will feature over 200 original artworks, focusing primarily on works set in Europe, such as “The Family of Po” and “Thomas’s Heart”!

Details of the “Moto Hagio Exhibition—Longing for Europe”
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Asahi Group Oyamazaki Sanso Art Museum, an exhibition of original artwork by Moto Hagio is being held!
Featuring over 200 original artworks from works set in Europe—including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy—such as “The Family of Poe” and “Thomas’s Heart.”
Original artwork inspired by her travels in Europe
In 1972, at the age of 23, Ms. Hagio traveled from Yokohama to Europe via Vladivostok and visited several countries.
The following year, she studied abroad in Brighton, England, for about half a year, and her subsequent travels have had a significant influence on her creative work.

The venue: Asahi Group Oyamazaki Mountain Villa Museum of Art
Located at the southern foot of Mount Tennozan, this museum is integrated with a garden spanning approximately 5,500 tsubo.
It consists of three exhibition buildings: the “Oyamazaki Mountain Villa” (Main Building), a Western-style mansion in the British Tudor-Gothic style built between the Taisho and Showa eras; the “Underground Jewel Box” (Underground Building), designed by architect Tadao Ando; and the “Box of Dreams” (Yamate Pavilion).
*With your ticket to the Moto Hagio exhibition, you can also view the concurrently held “30th Anniversary of the Museum’s Opening: 100th Anniversary of Claude Monet’s Death Exhibition (Phase 2) ” (Saturday, September 19, 2026 – Sunday, April 11, 2027). Six works from the museum’s collection, including *Water Lilies*, will be on display.

Oyamazaki Villa Tour
This is a guided tour of the Oyamazaki Villa—a building over 100 years old—held before the museum opens.
