Figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu and the wildly popular creative collective CLAMP are teaming up for a dream collaboration!

On February 26, 2023, “Yuzuru Hanyu ICE STORY 2023 GIFT at Tokyo Dome” will take place—the first-ever solo performance by a figure skater at the Tokyo Dome—a story that portrays Hanyu’s life so far and his future on the ice.

To commemorate this event, a special “picture book” will be released, combining words penned by Hanyu with illustrations that reflect CLAMP’s unique artistic vision, allowing readers to enjoy a new world distinct from the GIFT performance.

In connection with this collaboration—which came about after Hanyu reached out to CLAMP—messages have been received from both Hanyu and CLAMP.

Details regarding the “GIFT” picture book will be announced in the future on the official website and Twitter. Stay tuned!

Picture Book “GIFT”: Comments from Yuzuru Hanyu & CLAMP

Comment from Yuzuru Hanyu

In creating the story titled “GIFT,” I’ve been working with various images in mind.
Among those images was the idea of “GIFT” as a picture book, and I hoped that CLAMP would be able to bring that vision to life.
This is a work that offers a worldview distinct from that of the Tokyo Dome performances.
I hope that through this work, many people will experience a different perspective and enjoy it.

Comment from CLAMP

We were truly surprised to receive this offer.
We hope to help bring to life—as faithfully as possible—the “GIFT” that Mr. Hanyu envisioned as a “picture book,” distinct from the groundbreaking “GIFT” performance.
