The broadcast and streaming dates have been set for the latest installment in the live-action “Golden Kamuy” series starring Kento Yamazaki, titled “Continuous Drama W: Golden Kamuy — The Sakhalin Pursuit.”

Exclusive broadcast and streaming on WOWOW will begin on January 24, 2027, at 10:00 PM, and the teaser visual and special preview video have also been unveiled!

The latest installment in the live-action series—a sequel to the movie “Golden Kamuy: The Abashiri Prison Raid”—is coming to TV!

Sugimoto and Ashirpa, who have been separated, embark on an adventure set in the frozen landscape of Sakhalin to reunite with their partner.

Since we’ve been working with the same cast and crew since the first movie, even though it had been a while since we last met, we were able to dive right into filming while immersed in the atmosphere of “Golden Kamuy.”

I think the charm of “Golden Kamuy” lies in the contrast and range between comedy and drama. Even when he seems to be goofing off at first glance, Sugimoto is acting with sincere feelings for Ashirpa. As the series continues—and especially in this “Sakhalin Pursuit Arc”—the characters’ “individual senses of justice” and personal backstories are explored.

It’s really interesting that, within that range, there are also comedic scenes. And when the story shifts back toward the serious side, it really pulls at your heartstrings. I find that aspect both mysterious and captivating. I’d be delighted if viewers could also enjoy watching this interplay of lighthearted and serious moments.

Anna Yamada as Ashirpa

“Golden Kamuy: Sakhalin Pursuit” is finally about to begin. Ashirpa, the character I play, continues her journey, tracing the footsteps and past of her father, Wilk, even after being separated from Sugimoto. Along the way, she encounters new people, uncovers new truths, and grows significantly as a person.

With a sense of gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a meticulously crafted story and to portray this character, I did my very best to bring out Ashirpa’s unique personality. Following the “Abashiri Prison Raid Arc,” the drama surrounding the various gold ingots is depicted with even greater attention to detail and spectacular intensity.

Once again, a cast of unique new characters will appear one after another, and I believe you’ll enjoy the unique charm of this drama—with its non-stop, edge-of-your-seat developments! I’d be delighted if you’d look forward to it while reflecting on the series so far!

It’s so well-made, with a cinematic quality that makes it hard to believe it’s a TV series. Just like in the previous series, the new characters seem to have literally jumped right out of the manga.

The sets are so stunning it’s almost frustrating, and even though the entire series was filmed in Japan, the exotic atmosphere of Sakhalin is mysteriously captured. Of course, it’s physically difficult to adapt every single detail of the original manga into a live-action series, and just like in the previous series, the only thing the original manga has the edge on is that the actors can’t fight while shaking their testicles—but even so, you’re sure to enjoy the meticulous visual detail and overwhelming sense of immersion that surpasses the original.

As the original author, I’m truly happy that such a wonderful work has been created.
