Gintama “Chibigurumi ~Let’s All Go Kabuto Hunting~” Full Lineup of 6 Varieties

The lineup consists of the three members of the Yorozuya and the three members of the Shinsengumi. All figures are modeled after their appearances in the “Kabuto Hunting” episode and come with a ball chain.

The Yorozuya members are Gintoki Sakata, Shinpachi Shimura, and Kagura. The Shinsengumi members are Isao Kondō, Jūshirō Hijikata, and Sōgo Okita; their figures recreate the bizarre outfits they wore while hunting Kabuto in the series.

*The three members of the Shinsengumi are depicted as follows: Isao Kondo in a full-body gold fundoshi, Jūshirō Hijikata in black attire, and Sōgo Okita wearing a headpiece with rhinoceros beetle horns.

Gintama Episode 65, “Beetle Hunting,” Which Served as the Inspiration for “Kabuto-gari”

The inspiration comes from Episode 65 of the TV anime “Gintama,” titled “A Boy Learns the Preciousness of Life Through a Rhinoceros Beetle.”

As a game where children make rhinoceros beetles fight each other becomes popular, Kagura tries to join in with Teishun No. 28, but her dung beetle is not taken seriously by the others. Just then, Okita bursts in with Sadomaru No. 21 and steals the other children’s rhinoceros beetles.

Standing dejectedly before Teishun No. 28’s grave, Kagura is consumed by a desire for revenge. She sets out on a rhinoceros beetle hunt alongside Gintoki and the others, who are now eager to make a profit after learning that the beetles are worth money. However, they find others already there: members of the Shinsengumi, dressed in bizarre outfits and preparing to hunt the beetles.

And so, a ruthless battle over stag beetles between the Yorozuya and the Shinsengumi begins. This set of “Chibigurumi” figures faithfully recreates the three-dimensional forms of the six characters who appeared in this episode.

“Chibigurumi” is a plush toy series by BANDAI SPIRITS. Characterized by their petite forms and wide, innocent eyes, they have been released for many different titles.
