The “Let’s Make It Happen!! Cheer Screening” of *Chikawa: The Secret of the Mermaid Island*—featuring automated penlight effects—will be held for three consecutive days from October 16 to 18, 2026, at seven TOHO Cinemas locations across five prefectures nationwide. This is a screening where audience members can cheer along using special glow sticks that change color in sync with the film. It is an expansion of the “Glow Stick Cheer Screening,” which was held just once on September 23, to a three-day event.

The “Chiikawa” Christmas event, “Chiikawa Christmas Market,” is set to take place starting November 24, 2026, at Toyosuna Park in Makuhari, Chiba (in front of AEON Mall Makuhari Shintoshin)! The approximately 6,000-square-meter venue will feature light, video, and sound displays centered around a 6-meter-tall symbolic Christmas tree, as well as photo spots like giant balloons and snow globes, 35 types of limited-edition food items, exclusive original merchandise, and interactive games. Ticket holders will receive a “Pop-Up Christmas Card” and an ornament as gifts.

The “Chiikawa” prize item “Okao My Bottle #2” will be available at Taito stores starting October 16, 2026, featuring bottles with caps shaped like the faces of a rabbit and a flying squirrel. Due to popular demand, the “Okao My Bottle ①” featuring Chikawa and Hachiware will also make a comeback on the same day.

The second main visual from *Chikawa: The Secret of the Mermaid Island* has been unveiled, featuring Chikawa and the islanders Hitoha and Futaba gazing at each other by the light of a campfire. The third and fourth rounds of theater-goer giveaways—which sold out quickly—and the sixth round, set to begin distribution on October 10, will be re-released later this year!

It has been announced that the new “Ichiban Kuji Chikawa ~Let’s All Go to the Amusement Park~” from the “Chikawa” series will go on sale in stores in April 2027. A visual depicting Chikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi playing at an amusement park has been released. The price is 795 yen per play (tax included), and the prize lineup will be announced at a later date.

The “Muchauma!! Chikawa Sushi POP UP STORE,” featuring adorable Chikawa characters dressed as sushi toppings, will be held at the Mitsukoshi Gallery on the 9th floor of Fukuoka Mitsukoshi from Friday, October 16, 2026, through Tuesday, November 3 (a national holiday)!
In addition to commemorative event merchandise such as collectible chopstick rests, placemats, and water-repellent tea cups, capsule toys will also be available. For every 2,200 yen (tax included) spent, customers will receive a “plate-shaped trading card” (8 varieties total).

In addition to the raglan shirts, college-style knit cardigans, and eco-bags set to go on sale on October 16, the lineup will also feature winter items such as the “I’m Eating a Meat Bun!” mascot and cozy blankets.

It has been announced that “Chiikawa Bakery mini,” the fourth domestic location of the “Chiikawa” permanent bakery chain “Chiikawa Bakery,” will open in winter 2026 at Daimaru Tokyo, which is directly connected to Tokyo Station. Details such as the opening date and product lineup will be announced in due course.

The “Chii-Pura” series of easy-to-assemble plastic kits based on “Chiikawa” has been launched. Pre-orders for the first release—featuring “Chiikawa,” “Hachiware,” and “Rabbit and Bicycle” (3 designs total)—will begin on October 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM on the official online store, “Chiikawa Market,” in limited quantities. Prices are 1,650 yen each for Chikawa and the Rabbit, and 1,980 yen for Hachiware with the two-seater bicycle (all prices include tax). Free shipping is available when all three varieties are pre-ordered in a single transaction.
